Rev. Talmage Steven McLain 72, of Elkin, passed away Oct. 10, 2018 at Mountain Valley Hospice in Yadkinville. Rev. McLain was born in Hiddenite, NC, the son of Talmage J. and Cecil Warren McLain. He graduated from High Point College with a BA and from Emory University with a MDiv. and had served numerous churches in the United Methodist Church Western North Carolina Conference from which he retired. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Elkin. He is survived by his wife, Connie Franklin McLain of the home; one daughter, Shelly Lawter of Raleigh; two step sons, Roger Speer and Larry Speer; three grandchildren, Sarah, Westley and Benjamin Lawter; and four step grandchildren, Michael, Tyler, Ragan and Solomon Speer. Funeral services will be conducted Friday October 12, 2018 at 11:00 am at Elkin First United Methodist Church by Rev. Michael Shuford and Rev. Zachary King. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Burial will be in Hiddenite Cemetery, Hiddenite, NC at 3:00 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.Jkennedyfsl.com.
