Sharon Ruth Deck Tucker began her cosmic journey on Thursday, April 30, 2020. She was 69 years old.

She was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on September 25, 1950, to Rev. Roy B. Deck and Ruth Kirk Deck, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Reynolds High School in Winston-Salem and from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a degree in Political Science.

She worked most of her career in healthcare systems management, first in Dallas TX, then with the University of Chicago Hospital, Jackson Memorial Hospital in Mississippi, and Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Florida.   She loved Florida, photography (particularly wildflowers), and animals. She always had cats, but then she adopted Sydney, her Brittany Spaniel, and dogs became part of her family. She had been ill for some two years prior to her departure from this plane of existence.

She is survived by her sister Judith Ellen Deck of Jonesville, NC and by her nephew Stephen M. Deck of Henderson NC.   Also keeping her memory are her cousins Denny and Donna Kirk Coates of Findley OH, Jen and Chris Miller of Lancaster PA, Brian and Michele Deck of Metairie LA, Mike McCrary of Jacksonville FL, Alan and Sharon Deck of Tuscaloosa AL, Gene and Ann Deck of Kenner LA, Wayne and Sheryl Deck of Destrehan LA, and Jim and Phyllis Cornelison of Rockwell NC.

She was a member of Jonesville First United Methodist Church (now New Beginnings UMC of Jonesville). Before her illness, she was smart and funny and witty and interested in everything. In eternity, she will be all those things again, and more.

Sharon requested to be cremated, and we will honor her wishes. No memorial service is planned, but if you wish to remember her, you may want to make a donation to the ASPCA in her memory. She'd like that
