Scottie Sue Vanhoy passed away August 21, 2023 at her home.  Scottie was born October 20, 1946 the daughter of Lincoln and Dorothy Key Hanks. She attended Mountain Park School and Graduated from Surry Central High school with the class of 1964.  She enrolled at House of Charm Beauty College where she began her 56 year career as a much loved Beautician.  An appointment with Scottie, to get your hair cut or done was like a dose of good medicine, you always left the shop feeling better.  She was an active member of Elkin First Baptist Church.  She enjoyed spending time at their summer retreat at Greenstreet Mountain Resort with her beloved husband Phil.

Surviving are her daughter, Alice Baker (Tim);  son, Payton Day (Alania);  brother, Jerry Hanks

Her Grandchildren, Tanner Baker and Dillon Baker, Evelyn Day and Isaac Day

Great Grandchildren, Jase Baker, Millie Grace Baker, Conner Baker and Caseon Baker.

A memorial service will be held at Elkin First Baptist Church on Saturday August 26, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. Mark Reece and Dr. Bill Johnson.  The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
