Mrs Ruby J. Day,  94,  of Elkin, widow of Fred J. Day, died Thursday evening at the home of her son, Bobby Day after an extended illness.

Ruby was born July 10, 1926 in Wilkes Co. to John Andrew and Dallie Johnson Johnston.  She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and retired from Elkin Valley Apparel.  In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy D. Bates. Surviving are, one daughter Rebecca D. (Reginald) Darnell of State Road, two sons, James Andrew (Glenda) Day of Clemmons and Bobby (Abbye) Day of Elkin, and son-in-law Hubbard Bates of Georgia. Mrs Day has nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church by Reginald Darnell and Matthew Day. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.
