Obituary

LARRY DWAYNE JOHNSON

Our tender-hearted, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Tuesday, February 2. 2022.

Larry was born in Elkin, October 8, 1943 to John Wesley and Chloe Dell Byrd Johnson. He grew up in a loving home in Ronda, NC with grandparents, mother, aunts and uncle until he married, moved to Ashe County for 3 years, returned to Ronda, then moved to Elkin in 1974. During the many "seasons" of his life, Larry embraced his love

of the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping and sharing it with his sons and close friends For several years he enjoyed Western Square Dancing with the Happy Valley Squares, teaming to ride his Gotdwing motorcycle, riding to work in W/S winter and summer and touring the country. After retjrement from Westinghouse Corporation he learned to drive "a big truck" throughout the US and Canada. His second retirement brought him home to spend precious time with his family, church members and friends. Many experienced Larry's good-natured teasing, pranks, and stories but there was also a quiet thoughtful, considerate, generous, dependable, faithful, caring quality and strength that attracted others to him. He was a man of deep faith and walked with his Lord and Savior daily. He will be so missed.

Larry was preceded in death by his son Timothy Dwayne Johnson, mother and step father Chloe and Lester Holcomb, father and step-mother John Wesley and Lucille Johnson, half sister and brother Patricia and Johnny Ray Johnson.
