Mr. Corbet Walters, 91, of Parkwood Place Elkin died Tuesday morning at Forsyth Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mr. Walters was born in Surry Co. Aug 30, 1925 to William Luther and Myrtle McCann Walters. He was a Veteran of World War II. He attended New Orleans Bible College, Gardner Webb College and Carson Newman College. He retired from Chatham Mfg Co. after 37 years with the company. He was an active member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and served as Deacon. He was an active volunteer at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital as long as his health permitted.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Martin Walters, nine brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are two daughters: Susan W. Barker and husband Phil, Rev. Lucrecia Chris W. Norman and husband Freddie, two sons, James Martin Walters and wife Johnnie, William Corbet (Bill) Walters and Wife Vickie, eight grandchildren, eight great children and three great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday Oct 22, 2016 by Rev. John Attaway and Rev. Chris Norman at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, State Road, NC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 on Friday evening at the church.
