Annie Lou Allison Foster died peacefully June 4, 2026 at her home after a lengthy period of
decline . She was born May 12, 1933 in Old Fort to Walter and Selma Allison. Ann was
preceded in death by her husband, Charles Simpson Foster, Jr.(Sam) and daughter, Lisa
Catherine Foster. Three of her five siblings preceded her in death ; brothers Gene Allison and
Duane Allison, and sister, Joyce Lytle. Ann is survived by a daughter, ,Allison Edwards(Joe) of
Raleigh , sisters Faye Hayes of Blowing Rock and Nancy Robinson of Marion, NC.
Ann began her college education at Brevard College , completing her degree in home
economics at UNCG . Her professional career began in Surry County as a home extension
agent. After a few years, Ann received her teaching certification and taught in the Elkin City
Schools for thirty years .

Ann was a member of Elkin First United Methodist Church where she was active until her
decline in recent years. She was very appreciative of the love and support from the
congregation during her declining years.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Ann's caregivers: Brittany Horton, Thelma
Martin, Paulette Norman , Megan Parks , Aleshia Propst, and Krista Seagraves. These women
provided loving care with compassion and respect giving comfort and dignity for Ann in her last
months.

A service for Ann will be held June 14, 2026 at 2pm at Elkin First United Methodist Church on
Hawthorne Road. The family requests that memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and
Palliative Care , Elkin First United Methodist Church , or Grace Clinic.
