Anne Butler Leonard

Anne was born on October 12, 1937, unto George Arron Butler and Anne Garrett Butler, in Houston, Texas.  George and Anne Butler had three children, George A. Butler Jr., and Ida Jo Butler (Moran).  Anne is survived by two children, John Austin Cater III and Daniel Garrett Cater, Three grandchildren, John Austin Cater IV, Travis Noble Cater and Caroline Chappell Mullins, and five great grandchildren, Carson Cater, Owen Cater, Emmerson Mullins, Pennellope Grace Cater (PG for short) and Anne Mullins.

Anne raised her children in Houston, Texas.  She was a member of theJunior League and The River Oaks Garden Club.  When Anne was a child, her parents would bring the family to Roaring Gap, North Carolina to vacation for the summer and escape the heat in Houston.

In the late 1960's she divorced John A. Cater, jr. of Anniston, Alabama and later married Robert Wales Leonard (Bob) of Weatherford, Oklahoma. In 1980's she opened and operated the Houston Fitness Center. Her husband Bob suffered a debilitating stroke.  She and Bob later moved to Roaring Gap in the 1990's and became a full time residents.  She was a long time member of Roaring Gap Club, where she enjoyed long walks with her dog Lucky, and spending time at the lake with her grandchildren.  After being widowed from her husband Bob, she became known as "Leonard Party of One".

A graveside service and reception  for family and friends will be held at a later date to be announced.
