Mrs. Aniva Scott Casstevens, 88, widow of Ralph C. Casstevens, died Friday, June 24, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Mrs. Casstevens was born in Person Co., NC on August 20, 1927 to Walter M. and Aniva Wells Scott, the youngest of eight children. Ann graduated from Roxboro High School and trained with Western Union. After working for Western Union in several small towns, she was assigned to Elkin, NC at age 19. Shortly after arriving in Elkin, she met her future husband, Ralph. They married in 1948 and built a home in Yadkin Co. and had a family of two girls and two boys.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a granddaughter, Catherine Leigh Casstevens, and by all of her siblings. She is survived by four children, Jeryl Casstevens Bouchard and husband Gerald of Clemmons; Ralph C. Casstevens, Jr. and companion Paula Rice of Jonesville; Gail Casstevens Dunn and husband Brad of Ashburn, VA; and Randy Casstevens and wife Deborah of Winston-Salem. Additionally, ten Grandchildren: Claire McLeod (Travis); Samuel, Camden (Mary) and Anne Louise Bouchard; Christina Foster (Josh); Bradley, Lincoln and Betsy Dunn; Benjamin and William Casstevens; and three great grandchildren: Spencer, Cooper and Kathryn Foster.
A graveside service will be held Monday June 27, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in Hollywood Cemetery with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Elkin conducted by Dr. David Hughes. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
